The Egna "Neufrucht" Fruit Growers’ Co-operative was founded in 1960. It attracted so many new members that it had to start the construction of its own warehouse a mere two years later. Another significant step was taken in 1969 when it merged with the Kurtatsch Kurfrucht Fruit Growers’ Co-operative, and gained an important addition to its geographical coverage. In 2004, parts of the neighbouring co-operative, Neuselifrut, also became members.

The figures show just how successful the co-operative has been: since it was founded, it has increased the quantity of fruit it delivers by more than 10 times! The installations and buildings are all based on the latest technology. The co-operative is especially proud of the quality of its products. For example, 100% of its apples are produced completely in compliance with the "AGRIOS" guidelines for integrated agriculture. Over 90% of the companies are "Eurep-Gap" certified.

Successful varieties such as Royal Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith and also the ever more popular Pink Lady grow on the ideally placed slopes.

Today the co-operative has 314 members who produce almost 21,000 tonnes of fruit per year from more than 450 hectares of land.
