He has a notable series of victories, medals and honours to his name: 5 Olympic medals (2 golds, 1 silver and 2 bronzes), 10 World Cup men's singles titles, 6 World Championship golds, 2 European Championship titles and 12 Italian titles. Armin Zöggeler has won every luge race there is to win, and on 11 and 12 February, the Italian ace from Alto Adige will be going after his 7th World Championship gold.

On the Altenberg ice in Germany, Foiana's most famous son will be up against formidable German rivals, who have dominated the World Cup table this year. Fighting in his corner though, will be some 5,200 members of the VOG Consortium, Armin's official sponsor through the Marlene brand, for the past 5 years.

The thrills of the season don't end there though: in two weeks time in the Russian city of Paramonovo, it'll be the turn of the 43rd European Luge Championships, where the European champion in this sport will be crowned.
