South Tyrol – Südtirol: the ideal region for apple cultivation

South Tyrol – Südtirol combines Alpine freshness with Mediterranean warmth – perfect conditions for apple cultivation. Our cultivation area stretches from Merano to Bressanone, at altitudes ranging from 200 to 1,100 metres. Warm days, cool nights, 300 days of sunshine and 800 mm of rain per year ensure the highest quality and a unique flavour.

Our organic apple farmers are also members of additional cultivation associations whose requirements are even stricter and go beyond the EU organic standards. These associations focus on a holistic, sustainable approach to farming that promotes biodiversity, natural plant protection, organic fertilisation methods, and long-term soil fertility. They also place great emphasis on social responsibility – from fair wages and strengthening local economic cycles to maximum transparency and traceability. Strict, regular inspections ensure that these extended standards are consistently upheld.

Bioland

Founded in Germany, Bioland is committed to a holistic, sustainable approach to agriculture, focusing on biodiversity, soil health, and climate protection. Strict guidelines ensure the highest ecological standards, regional value creation, and direct exchange between farmers and consumers.

Naturland

Since 1982, Naturland has been one of the leading international organic associations. In addition to ecological farming methods, the association places great emphasis on social responsibility, fair working conditions, maximum transparency, and the use of renewable energy.

Demeter

As a pioneer of biodynamic agriculture, Demeter has been following a holistic approach since 1928, taking natural cycles, lunar phases, and biodynamic preparations into account. The certification stands for the highest ecological and social standards.
