For us, sustainability means taking responsibility – for our daily actions, for the people we work with, and for the nature that surrounds us. This principle is deeply rooted in the values of our family-run farms and in our shared vision for the future.

Our approach to sustainability puts people, product and planet at the center. It combines a passion for high-quality food with a commitment to social responsibility and active environmental protection – for today’s and tomorrow’s generations.

Supported by over 4,000 family farms who cultivate their apple orchards with great dedication and experience, we jointly contribute to healthy nutrition and the preservation of small-scale, locally rooted agriculture. In doing so, we are guided by the sustainability strategy sustainapple and by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Our community thrives on the dedication of many: over 4,000 apple farmers, their families, and our employees. Together with our cooperatives and in close dialogue with our customers, we accompany the apple and apple cultivation – from blossom to consumer.

Our family farms form the foundation of our success: for generations, they have worked with foresight, passed on their expertise, and maintained small-scale agriculture that shapes the economy, culture, and life of our territory. Through our cooperative model, we pool resources, share expertise, and grow together – for fair conditions, strong collaboration, and high-quality products.

Product – variety, responsibility and quality
Variety and innovation are the driving forces behind our work. From cultivation and the selection of varieties to storage and marketing, we continuously develop our range, equally taking into account consumer expectations, market demands, and the needs of our family farms. The apple is always at the center – as a healthy, natural, and versatile food that wins people over with its wide range of flavors.

We place great importance on quality. Modern technology, expertise, and careful work ensure freshness, product safety, and consistent taste – today and in the future. Apples that are not sold as fresh produce are processed further in our fruit processing company thus creating sustainable use within a closed-loop system.

Planet – acting in harmony with nature
Nature is our most important partner – and protecting it is part of our responsibility. We manage our operations in line with local conditions: with nutrient-rich soils, targeted use of water, and the preservation of a stable ecosystem.

Our approach combines climate and soil protection with the promotion of biodiversity. From the choice of varieties to plant health and pest control, we rely on nature-based methods. In this way, we contribute to conserving resources and strengthening the cultural landscape.

Sustainable measures to promote soil health and biodiversity
sustainapple

sustainapple is the sustainable development strategy of the South Tyrolean apple industry. It was launched in 2019 to make the commitment to the environment, society, and the economy visible and to promote concrete measures for sustainable development.
